KANSAS CITY, Kan. – A man so angry with his wife he allegedly robbed a bank just so he could be caught and sent to prison plead guilty to the crime in court Monday.
Lawrence John Ripple, 70, robbed the Bank of Labor in Kansas City, Kan. on Sept. 2 by handing the teller a note saying, "I have a gun, give me money."

The Kansas City Star reports that after the teller complied, Ripple simply took the money and sat in the lobby of the bank waiting for police to arrive.
Ripple told a bank security guard, "I'm the guy you're looking for."
The newspaper says Ripple told investigators that he and his wife had argued and he "no longer wanted to be in that situation."
In an affidavit, an FBI agent said, "Ripple wrote out his demand note in front of his wife... and told her he'd rather be in jail than at home."
Ripple may get his wish as he now faces 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
