A woman who was recently released from prison asked a judge for the maximum sentence for robbing a bank so she could go back behind bars, according to The Associated Press.
Linda P. Thompson, 59, has already served about 18 years in federal custody for a handful of crimes, and decided she was better off there, prompting her to rob a bank in Cheyenne, Wyoming July 27.
"Prison is home to me so I'm just going back home," said Thompson. She told the judge at her hearing, "I'd like as much time as possible."
Thompson was previously held in Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville, Oregon. Upon her release after serving six years--and protesting her release that was ultimately denied--she headed east to Wyoming. She said she was assaulted in a park when she arrived, which lead to her scheme to land herself back in police custody.
"The easiet way to get there is to rob a bank," she said.
Thompson is set to be sentenced Oct. 12 after a pre-sentence investigation is completed.
