BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — The Humane Society of Broward County is encouraging families to adopt pets ahead of the holidays, spotlighting a two-year-old dog named Peewee Papito, who arrived from Puerto Rico more than a week ago.
Peewee Papito is a mixed breed, possibly part Wheaten Terrier, Poodle or Dandie Dinmont Terrier, with hair rather than fur that may be suitable for people with allergies, said HSBC’s Cherie Wachter.
He is playful, affectionate and even responds to commands in Spanish.
Wachter says Peewee Papito is heartworm positive, but the Humane Society will provide treatment at no additional cost to adopters, which could otherwise cost thousands at a private veterinarian. He will require regular grooming.
The shelter also has several kittens and adult cats available for adoption. HSBC’s adoption kennels open daily at 11 a.m.
