FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Shadow, a 9-year-old dog with a big personality, and Nala, an 8-year-old cat, are among the pets currently available for adoption at the Humane Society of Broward County.
Both animals were given up by their previous owners due to expanding families, a common but unfortunate situation, according to HSBC’s Cherie Wachter.
Shadow is described as a sweet, playful dog who enjoys rolling around on blankets or carpet and has a sharp nose for treats.
While good with cats, he would thrive best as the only dog in a household. Wachter says Shadow is ideal for a family seeking a companion who will entertain, cuddle, and settle in as a lapdog.
Nala is shy at first and would do best in an adults-only household that can give her time to adjust.
Walker emphasized the ongoing need for families to consider adult pets, noting that the shelter has many beloved animals in search of loving homes.
More information on adoption is available on the Broward Humane Society’s website.
