Heat win opener against Nets

Miami out to 1-0 series lead


MIAMI – So much for the Miami Heat being rusty after a week off.

Miami came out with a sharp effort to win Game 1 of their playoff series against the Brooklyn Nets 107-86.

The Heat led the Nets 46-43 at the half.

Miami was really able to break the game open in the 3rd quarter.

The Heat outscored the Nets 33-23.

LeBron James led the Heat with 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Chris Bosh had a solid offensive contribution with 15 points.

Ray Allen was a big spark for the Heat off the bench.

Allen had 19 points including 4/7 from 3-point land.

Allen's former Celtic teammates Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were limited.

Pierce scored 8 points and Garnett scored 0.

Shane Battier, who mostly has been on the bench lately, started for the Heat.

Battier scored 8 points in 26 minutes.

It was the Heat's first win over Brooklyn this year.

The only negative for the Heat, Chris Andersen left the game with a left knee contusion.

The Heat say X-Rays were negative on Andersen.

The Nets won the regular season series 4-0.

Game 2 is Thursday night at the American Airlines Arena.
