One of Miami's best defensive players for the past seven years, Starks struggled in the second half of last season as the team failed to make the playoffs. He finished with 28 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

The move comes as the Dolphins are expected to sign defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh at some point Wednesday.

Suh played for the Detroit Lions last season.
