Hurricanes running back Walter Tucker transferring from Miami

Senior from Plantation says decision 'best move for my future'

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami Hurricanes running back Walter Tucker is transferring for his senior season.

"Walter and I spoke yesterday and he felt like he would have a better opportunity to finish his college football career and education at another university," first-year Miami head coach Mark Richt said in a statement Thursday. "I wish him the very best."

Tucker played in 10 games last season, mostly on special teams.

"I will be forever thankful for the opportunity the University of Miami gave me," Tucker said in a statement. "However, at this point in my collegiate career, I believe this is the best move for my future."

The 6-foot-1, 225-pound running back came to Miami from American Heritage School in Plantation, where he was a two-time state champion in track and field.
