Vernon signs record contract with Giants

Pass rusher leaves Dolphins

DAVIE, Fla. – Olivier Vernon is now a former Miami Dolphin and very rich.

Fox Sports' Mike Garafolo reports that Vernon has signed with the New York Giants.

Peter King of Sports Illustrated reports the deal is for 5 years at $85 million.

Of that money, $52.5 million is guaranteed.

Vernon had been with the Dolphins for 5 seasons.

Last year, he had 61 tackles and 7.5 sacks.

Vernon played his entire career in South Florida, much like his former teammate Lamar Miller, who signed with the Texans today.

Vernon went to Hialeah High and played his college ball at the University of Miami.
