Center listed as day-to-day

Hassan Whiteside left Game 3 in the second quarter

MIAMI – Miami center Hassan Whiteside has a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee, putting in serious doubt his status for the remainder of the Heat's Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Toronto Raptors.

Whiteside had an MRI exam Sunday that confirmed the sprain. The Heat say he'll be listed as day-to-day, though the typical recovery time from such injuries is at least a couple of weeks.

Golden State guard Stephen Curry has been sidelined for the past two weeks with a sprained MCL. His was a Grade 1 sprain, which is defined as slight.

Meanwhile, the Raptors announced Sunday that center Jonas Valanciunas will miss the rest of the series with a sprained right ankle.

Game 4 of the Heat-Raptors series is Monday in Miami. Toronto leads the series 2-1.
