Dwyane Wade strips down for body issue of ESPN magazine

Miami Heat star says he finally feels comfortable enough in his own skin

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Dwyane Wade is baring it all for ESPN the Magazine.

A video posted Tuesday on ESPN.com depicts the Miami Heat star prepping for his photo shoot for the upcoming body issue of the magazine.

Wade, 34, said he refused to appear in the annual body issue for seven years.

"I just wasn't comfortable enough to be posing naked in a magazine," he said.

Wade said he used to keep his shirt on when he had water fights in his neighborhood as a child, but he started feeling more comfortable with his body after he turned 30.

"I realize that I'm living my naked truth now, and my naked truth is being who I am, being my authentic self," he said.

The three-time NBA champion said he frequents the Soho Beach House in Miami Beach to get his pedicures, complete with black toenail polish. At first, Wade said, he was concerned about what others might think. But once he became comfortable in his own skin, it didn't matter anymore.

"Then as you start playing sports more, your toenails start turning black anyway," he said.

Wade said he hopes that appearing in the issue will show others who feel insecure about their bodies that they can overcome it.

"I'm excited about the reaction," Wade said.

The magazine hits newsstands starting July 8.
