Swimmers seek Olympic gold in men's 200m freestyle

Townley Haas also has good finish

American swimmer Conor Dwyer won the bronze medal in the men's 200-meter freestyle Monday night in Rio.

Sun Yang of China won gold and Chad le Clos of South Africa won silver.

Dwyer, a 27-year-old Illinois native, is competing in his second Olympics. He helped the U.S. to gold in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay and placed fifth in the 400-meter freestyle at the 2012 London Games.

He improved his results in the 400-meter free Saturday night with a fourth place finish and will be part of the team defending its 4x200-meter freestyle gold on Tuesday in Rio.

Fellow American Townley Haas finished fifth in his first Olympic event. The 19-year-old Virginia native who swims collegiately for the University of Texas, will also be part of the 4x200m free relay team along with Dwyer.
