Manuel’s jaw dropped when she looked at the scoreboard and saw the tie --- and that it was an Olympic-record time of 52.70 seconds.

The medal was the second in Rio for Olympic rookie Manuel, who was part of the silver medal winning 4x100-meter freestyle relay on Saturday.

The 20-year-old Texan and Stanford University swimmer will also take part in the 4x100-meter medley relay and the 50-meter freestyle on Friday and Saturday.
