Hurricanes linebacker Jamie Gordinier out for season after knee injury

Freshman suffers season-ending injury in season-opening win against FAMU

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Miami Hurricanes defense took a hit Sunday night.

The Hurricanes announced that freshman linebacker Jamie Gordinier will miss the remainder of the season.

Gordinier suffered a knee injury Saturday during Miami's 70-3 win against Florida A&M.

The 2015 recruit was the No. 1 rated defensive end in the state of New Jersey when he signed with the Hurricanes out of high school. He moved to linebacker when he got to Miami.

Gordinier's injury is the latest blow to a linebacker corps already made thin after the dismissal of linebacker Jermaine Grace for a violation of NCAA rules.

Miami hosts Florida Atlantic next Saturday.
