MIAMI – Butch Davis is returning to South Florida to become head coach at Florida International University.
Davis will return to the city where he led the University of Miami from 1995-2000.

He will replace Ron Turner, who was fired after FIU started the season 0-4. The team is currently 3-7 under interim head coach Ron Cooper.
Davis has a close relationship with FIU athletic director Pete Garcia. The two served together with the Cleveland Browns, when Davis was head coach after his time at Miami.
He will have a chance to face his former team when FIU plays Miami in 2018 and 2019.
The Panthers haven't had a winning season since 2011 under Mario Cristobal.
Davis' last head coaching job was at the University of North Carolina from 2007-2010. That school was rocked by an academic scandal during Davis' tenure.
Davis will be introduced on Tuesday.
