Heat center Hassan Whiteside looked exhausted after scoring on a tip-in in the fourth quarter against the Blazers late Saturday night.

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Miami Heat could not hold on to a fourth quarter lead as they ran out of gas in Portland, 99-92, to finish 2-1 on what was an impressive three-game road trip.

Hassan Whiteside led all scorers with 28 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks.

Whiteside got off to a strong start in the first half during which he made all seven of his shots.

The surging center gave the Heat a 91-85 lead with a tip-in with only 3:03 left in the fourth quarter, but the Heat faded in crunch time.

James Johnson had a frustrating night, scoring only two points, and was ejected in the third quarter for yelling at a referee.

After a grueling west coast trip that started with wins in Denver and Utah the Heat return home to host the New York Knicks on Tuesday.
