MIAMI – Shaquille O'Neal's jersey was retired during a halftime ceremony of the Heat-Lakers game on Thursday night.
O'Neal only played three seasons in Miami, but he was a large part of the team's 2006 championship squad.

Heat President Pat Riley fondly recalled telling owner Micky Arison about the opportunity to acquire Shaq.
O'Neal's mother rode out in an 18-wheeler to bring Shaq's jersey to the ceremony.
During his speech, O'Neal recognized former teammates Udonis Haslem and Alonzo Mourning.
O'Neal also mentioned that he wished Dwyane Wade was there to be part of the ceremony.
Shaq becomes the third Heat player to have his jersey retired, joining Mourning and Tim Hardaway.
