MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Miami Dolphins fans had just one thing on their holiday wish list this year – and they got it.
The Dolphins are playoffs- bound for the first time in eight years.

A couple of things happened in order for the team to clinch the spot.
First there was a thrilling victory in overtime against the Buffalo Bills on Christmas Eve, which brought the team to 10 wins on the season.
Then, the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos on Christmas Day, which guaranteed a playoff spot for the Dolphins.
On Sunday, the Dolphins will close out the regular season against the New England Patriots, but there's less pressure this time, as the outcome may only affect seeding for the Dolphins.
For now fans -- and players -- can turn their focus to a successful playoff run.
