BOSTON – The Miami Heat confirmed before Friday's game in Boston that they gave coach Erik Spoelstra a contract extension.
However, the Heat did not clarify when the extension was given nor did the team state the terms nor the length of the extension.

In a statement released by the team Spoelstra said, "I would like to thank the Arisons (ownership) and Pat (Riley, team president) for their continued confidence in me and my staff and are humbled in their trust in me as head coach."
