CORAL GABLES, Fla. – On a night the University of Miami honored coach Jim Larranaga for his 600th career win, his squad made him sweat out win No. 601 in a nail-biting finish against Boston College 78-77.

The Hurricanes made clutch free throws down the stretch to hold off the Eagles, who made a late push.

Ja'Quan Newton led Miami with a career-high 23 points and Davon Reed chipped in 17 points. 

Up next, the 'Canes continue this three-game home stand by hosting much tougher competition with two top-10 teams coming to Coral Gables -- North Carolina on Saturday and FSU on Wednesday night.
