Arrogate wins $12M Pegasus World Cup Invitational in Hallandale Beach

Richest horce race ends with Arrogate's victory

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – American thoroughbred racehorse Arrogate won the $12-million Pegasus World Cup Invitational on Saturday. 

About 17,000 watched Arrogate's Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith win the race at billionaire Frank Stronach's Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach.

Five horses -- paying $1 million each for a slot in the gate -- had morning-line odds of 50 to 1.

Arrogate, the winner of the 2016 Breeder's Cup Classic, was a favorite.
