Hurricanes defensive back Jeff James Jr. leaves team

Orlando native seeks 'fresh start somewhere else'

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami announced Sunday that defensive back Jeff James Jr. is no longer a member of the football team.

"I talked to Jeff and we both felt it was in his best interests to get a fresh start somewhere else," Miami head coach Mark Richt said. "We wish him all the best in his future plans."

The Orlando native played in one game as a true freshman for the Hurricanes last season.

His departure comes a day after the Hurricanes held their final spring scrimmage at Boca Raton Community High School.
