"Jack approached me and indicated that he felt like he would have more opportunities for playing time at another program," head coach Mark Richt said in a statement. "We wish him all the best in his future plans."

Allison redshirted for the Hurricanes last season, but he threw for more than 1,400 yards and had 11 touchdown passes as a senior in high school.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound quarterback was competing with redshirt junior Malik Rosier, redshirt sophomore Evan Shirreffs, redshirt junior Vincent Testaverde and true freshman Cade Weldon for the starting job.

Allison chose Miami over scholarship offers from Alabama, Missouri and Tennessee, in addition to state schools Central Florida and South Florida.
