MIAMI – So much for home field advantage. Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton seemed to run out of gas as he failed to defend his Home Run Derby title at home Monday night at Marlins Park.
Stanton, who was only on two hours sleep after returning from Sunday's extra-inning game in San Francisco, hit 16 home runs in his first round match-up with Gary Sanchez of the Yankees.

Sanchez put the pressure on Stanton by hitting 17 home runs, and Stanton struggled to match that mark, despite hitting one ball nearly 500 feet.
Stanton won the Home Run Derby last year in San Diego with a record 61 home runs.
