FIU blown out by UCF 61-17 in Butch Davis' debut

Panthers competitive for only 1 quarter

FIU coach Butch Davis had a very long night in his debut Thursday night against UCF.

ORLANDO, Fla. – The FIU Panthers were competitive for just one quarter Thursday night as they were soundly beaten by UCF 61-17 in the debut of new coach Butch Davis.

The Panthers trailed by only one point in the first quarter when Alex McGough connected with receiver Thomas Owens on a 75-yard touchdown.

But UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton answered with a 50-yard touchdown pass of his own which saw the Knights take control for good. Milton finished with 360 passing yards with four touchdowns and one interception.

McGough finished with 201 passing yards, one score and one interception.

Davis will make his home debut Sept. 9 against Alcorn State.
