Dolphins LB Alonso avoids suspension for Flacco hit

Ravens quarterback suffered concussion following brutal tackle

DAVIE, Fla. ā€“ Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso will not be suspended for his hit on Joe Flacco which knocked the Ravens quarterback out of last Thursday's game.

However, the NFL announced Alonso could still be finedĀ for the hit.

Alonso was penalized after hitting a sliding FlaccoĀ in the head during the second quarter of Baltimore's 40-0 win.

It was the first time Alonso has been penalized all season.

Flacco was taken off the field to undergo the league's concussion protocol and did not return to the game. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said FlaccoĀ should be healthy enough to play in Baltimore's next game.

Alonso texted Flacco an apology for the hit.

The NFL also announced Dolphins defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh will not be suspended for grabbing Ravens backup quarterback Ryan Mallett by the throat in the same game.
