BOCA RATON, Fla. ā Lane Kiffin is being rewardedĀ with a long-term contract extension for resurrecting Florida Atlantic football.
ESPN is reporting that FAU and its first-year head coach have agreed to a new 10-year contract running through 2027.
FAU (10-3) faces Akron (7-6) on Tuesday night in the Boca Raton Bowl on campus.
Under Kiffin, the Owls have won nine straight games and captured the Conference USA championship with a perfect record against C-USA opponents. The Owls had three consecutive three-win seasons prior to Kiffin's arrival.
"This is further proof of FAU's unbridled ambition," FAU president John Kelly told ESPN.com hours before the game.
The nine-game winning streak is the second longest in the country behind undefeated Central Florida.
Kiffin signed a five-year contract when he came to FAU last December after spending the previous three seasons as Alabama's offensive coordinator under Nick Saban. He has previously been a head coach at Tennessee, Southern California and with the NFL's Oakland Raiders.
