Cristobal said, “He earned trust in the fact that he’s up there in the office every waking free moment that he has. He gets there early and he leaves late.”

Cristobal said Ward spends time with all his teammates.

The former Washington State quarterback appreciated the praise from his head coach.

Ward said, “It means everything. Me, myself playing a lot of football that’s something that I feel as a quarterback you have to win over the guys in the locker room.”

Ward said in order to win that trust is to be a team player with the coaches and teammates.

Ward said, “It’s been everything that I expected when I came here. The culture’s perfect for what Coach Cristobal’s been doing. I’m just happy to be here.”

Ward said that he has enjoyed the fishing in South Florida, but isn’t a big fan of the traffic on the road.

Ward said that he has had to make an adjustment from thinking that he’s ready for the NFL draft to knowing that he’s not yet done in college.

Ward said, “There’s still food left on the table for myself, for this team.”

The Hurricanes have their Spring Game on Saturday.
