That word came from General Manager Bill Zito on Monday.

Over the weekend, the Panthers worked out a trade to acquire defenseman Seth Jones from the Blackhawks in exchange for a conditional first round pick and goalie Spencer Knight.

Tkachuk was injured while participating in the Four Nations Faceoff for the United States.

Zito confirmed for now, the Panthers know that they will be without Tkachuk for an extended period of time.
