MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — College football fans from across the country began to arrive South Florida as Playoff Fan Central opens at the Miami Beach Convention Center ahead of Monday night’s national title game between No. 10 Miami and No. 1 Indiana.
While the home team presence is strong, fans from both sides are already making their voices heard.
The Canes’ faithful were loud and proud on Friday as the team seeks to win their sixth national title in school history and the first in the College Football Playoff era.
Not far away, Hoosiers supporters were also on hand.
Some Indiana fans say they’re confident, even in enemy territory.
“I feel like they’re gonna win,” said Wyatt, an Indiana fan visiting South Florida days ahead of the game.
Organizers expect thousands of fans to pass through Playoff Fan Central over the next three days.
The free event features interactive games, on-field clinics, photo opportunities and even field goal attempts.
“There’s something for everyone,” organizers said.
Jack Seiler, chair of the 2026 Miami Host Committee, said the event and the matchup itself reflect years of planning and a convergence of storylines that make this weekend especially meaningful.
“You’re seeing the college football world focus right here on South Florida,” Seiler said.
Seiler noted that both teams bring compelling narratives to the game.
“They get a chance to be the underdog but at home,” he said. “The Indiana quarterback growing up right here in South Florida. So many great storylines, so much excitement.”
Fans, however, remain focused on the outcome.
“A little nervous, but I think we’re gonna do it,” said Hurricanes fan Debra Kelty.
Another fan summed up the mood shared by many.
“Excited, scared. If we win I’ll be so happy,” said Ian Vanhess.
Playoff Fan Central runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Sunday at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Additional free concerts are scheduled Saturday and Sunday nights at nearby Lummus Park.
