"When i signed up in Miami, I wanted things to work out," Stanton said.Ā "Sometimes things just spiral out of place and you have to find a new home."

Stanton, the reigning National League MVP,Ā said that he has spoken to Yankees slugger Aaron Judge. He alsoĀ acknowledged that he met with Marlins CEO Derek Jeter.

"We had a meeting, yes," Stanton said. "We spoke about the direction of the team. I wanted to go forward.Ā I thought we had to add rather than subtract.Ā TheĀ way they wanted to go was to subtract."

Stanton said that Miami had "no structure,Ā no stamp of this is how it's going to be."

But he did have a positive message for Marlins fans.

"I would say hang in there.Ā They're hurting.Ā They're going toĀ go through some more tough years," he said. "I advise them to not give up.Ā Maybe watch from afar.Ā  Those guys battle, too.Ā They're good kids and need some support."

Stanton also addressedĀ Miami fans on his Instagram account.

"I feel for youĀ fans, youā€™ve stuck with me as weā€™ve shared some roller coaster years," Stanton wrote. "Iā€™ve always tried to be as professional as possible during the unprofessionalĀ circus times there!"

Stanton will wear No. 27 for the Yankees.

New York finished one win away from reaching the World Series.
