Universal plans new hotel at former site of Wet 'n Wild, report says

Documents suggest building will have 4,000 rooms

ORLANDO, Fla. – Universal's plans for the former Wet 'n Wild water park are becoming a little clearer.

The Orlando Sentinel and Orlando Business Journal are reporting the 50-plus acre property could end up being home to a 4,000-room hotel.

Documents filed with the city of Orlando show Universal's parent company wants a hotel that could be one of the largest in Central Florida.

Demolition started on Wet 'n Wild last week.

A new state of the art water park, Volcano Bay, is expected to open in late May on Universal's main property next to the Cabana Bay Resort.

Last year, Universal opened up the Sapphire Falls Resort and announced plans for a sixth resort called Aventura.
