MIAMI One lucky South Florida high school senior received a life-changing surprise. A member of the Class of 2020 at Booker T. Washington received a free ride to college. Anticipation building over a special zoom call, featuring eight student finalists, all high school seniors waiting to find out if theyll spend the next four years with a full ride scholarship to the school of their dreams. "We started with 16 students at booker T Washington," said scholarship chair Rick Freedman. BTW rallied to score 15 points and force a key second-half turnover in the final 5:25 to beat Jacksonville’s Bolles Bulldogs 25-21 in the Class 4A state championship in Daytona Beach Wednesday night. The victory gave BTW its sixth state championship. Logan was able to knock the ball loose from Bolles quarterback Ben Netting and the BTW offense regained possession with 4:17 left. “We had to find a way to get our offense back the ball,” Logan said. The turnover on downs gave the BTW offense the ball back with 1:16 left in the game.
