Carroll's daughter, Susan Kay, said her mother died of cancer Friday in Los Angeles, according to The Associated Press. Carroll, perhaps best known for her work on "Julia" during her long career, earned a Tony Award for the musical "No Strings" and an Academy Award nomination for best actress for "Claudine."
