The top-selling vehicle in America will get a bit of a facelift next year, one of just a few new or updated vehicles that will be shown off this week at Detroit’s big auto show.

Ford Motor Co. says it has suspended production and halted shipments of the F-150 Lightning electric pickup after a battery caught fire during a pre-delivery quality check.

Ford is recalling more than 650,000 pickup trucks and big SUVs in the U.S. because the windshield wipers can break and fail.

A massive supply of Ford F-150 trucks ready to be delivered to dealers around the country were involved in a devastating train accident in Missouri on Aug. 2.

A tiny part is causing a huge problem in the auto industry. The parking lot at Sawgrass Ford of Sunrise used to be full of new F-150 pickup trucks. On Friday, it was mostly empty. AutoNation Toyota Weston was also low on inventory.

The electric version of Ford’s F-150 pickup looks much like its wildly popular gas-powered version.

DETROIT – A global semiconductor shortage and a February winter storm have combined to force Ford to build F-150 pickup trucks without some computers. The move is the latest ripple from the global semiconductor shortage, which earlier this week forced Honda and Toyota to announce production cuts at some North American factories. General Motors also has been forced to build pickups without some computers and install them later. AdAutomakers have said they don't expect the chip shortage to get any better before the third quarter of the year. Also Thursday, Nissan announced it would temporarily cancel production at factories in Smyrna, Tennessee; Canton, Mississippi; and in Aguascalientes, Mexico, due to the chip shortage.
