Surging virus, plummeting temperatures challenge shelters

Read full article: Surging virus, plummeting temperatures challenge shelters

The pandemic has caught homeless service providers in a crosscurrent: demand is high, but their ability to provide services are constricted. Many are hesitant to enter the reduced number of spaces available to escape the cold for fear of catching the virus. In Troy, New York, Joseph’s House and Shelter is renting 19 rooms in an old convent for a seasonal shelter. (AP Photo/Gregory Payan, File)Jockeys riding in the rescheduled 146th Kentucky Derby have to arrive by Monday and then quarantine upon returning to their home tracks, just one of many changes forced by the coronavirus pandemic. Their coronavirus tests from Churchill Downs will be honored at the southern Kentucky track.

Read full article: Tiz the Law draws No. 8 post as early 6-5 Belmont favorite

Tagg was hoping the Florida Derby winner would land anywhere between spots 5 to 7 in the starting gate for Saturday's beginning of the reconfigured Triple Crown series. Tiz the Law drew the No. He likes this track, so I'm glad to be back on it.Instead of concluding the Triple Crown, the Belmont is kicking off the series.
