LOS ANGELES – Singer FKA twigs filed a lawsuit Friday alleging that Shia LaBeouf was physically and emotionally abusive during their relationship from 2018 to 2019, saying her experience was part of a pattern of terrorizing women for the 34-year-old actor. “Shia LaBeouf hurts women,” the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court said in its opening lines. On a Valentine’s Day getaway in 2019, FKA twigs awoke to LaBeouf choking her and she was paralyzed with fear, the lawsuit said. She made several attempts to leave him that he resisted, but he later ended the relationship himself, the lawsuit said. The lawsuit said Pho allied herself with Barnett in an attempt to protect women from LaBeouf, although Pho is not listed as a plaintiff.

LOS ANGELES – Liam Neeson’s thriller “Honest Thief” stole the top spot at the box office in yet another quiet weekend of moviegoing. The Open Roads Films movie brought in $3.7 million in North America the weekend of its U.S. debut. The film, starring Neeson as a notorious bank robber who turns himself in but was double crossed by two FBI agents, opened in Canada last week. Despite coming in second, the comedy starring Robert De Niro earned $2.5 million. The action-thriller starring John David Washington and Robert Pattinson has totaled $50.6 million in the U.S.

The U.K. production of “The Batman” is starting up again after being shut down earlier this month when an individual tested positive for COVID-19. A spokesperson for Warner Bros. said Thursday that filming had resumed after a hiatus for quarantine precautions. Robert Pattinson stars in the film from director Matt Reeves which had been on hiatus for almost six months because of the coronavirus pandemic. The positive case came just three days after “The Batman” had initially resumed shooting. “The Batman” was originally supposed to hit theaters in June 2021 but was pushed back to October 2021 because of the delays.

NEW YORK In a litmus test for American moviegoing in the pandemic, Christopher Nolan's Tenet brought in an estimated $20.2 million through the holiday weekend in U.S. and Canadian theaters. Theaters in Canada, where COVID-19 cases are much lower than in the U.S., began showing Tenet a week earlier. In two weeks of release, its overseas total is $126 million, with a global tally thus far of $146.2 million. The film, which cost $200 million to make and at least $100 million to market, will need to get close to $500 million to break even. Disney's The New Mutants," a long delayed X-Men spinoff, collected about $7 million in 2,412 locations last weekend.

NEW YORK There is still plenty of life in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga.Meyer is planning at least two more books in her mega-selling vampire series, she said during a recent promotional event. Meanwhile, the author's long-awaited Midnight Sun sold more than 1 million copies in its first week, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers announced Thursday. Her novels have sold more than 100 million copies worldwide, and were adapted into a blockbuster film franchise starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Meyer once vowed never to write another Twilight book, but on Monday she revealed during an online event held by the chain store Books-A-Million that she is far from done with Edward and Bella. There are two more books I think in the world that I want to write, she said.

LOS ANGELES With reported cases of the coronavirus surging, Warner Bros. on Thursday postponed the release of Christopher Nolans Tenet, further delaying Hollywood's summer kickoff. The sci-fi thriller starring John David Washington and Robert Pattinson will move from July 31 to Aug. 12, a Wednesday. Movie theaters had been pinning their hopes on the film as a major July release that could bring audiences back to theaters. Warner Bros. had planned to re-release Nolan's 2010 blockbuster Inception in early July as a way to lead in to Tenet." Inception will now open on July 31, the studio said.

Zoe Kravitz has reportedly been cast to play Catwoman opposite Robert Pattinson's Caped Crusader in the eagerly awaited "Batman" film. The movie's director, Matt Reeves, seemingly confirmed the reports in the same way he did when there were reports that Pattinson would play Batman -- Reeves tweeted. "Batman" is a Warner Bros. production. HBO and Warner Bros. is owned by CNN's parent company. CNN has reached out to Warner Bros. for comment on the "Batman" news.

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson first found fame playing lovers in the "Twilight" film franchise and were a real life couple for a minute years ago, and it sounds like there are no hard feelings. Stewart gave her seal of approval for Pattinson starring in the forthcoming Matt Reeves-directed film, "The Batman." "I feel like he's the only guy that could play that part," she told Variety during the Toronto International Film Festival. She and Pattinson dated for three years ago after they played star-crossed lovers Bella and Edward in the "Twilight" films before they broke up in 2013. Growing up in England, Pattinson was a fan of Tim Burton's "Batman" films, he said. The "Twilight" star told Variety he's been after the role for a while. I sort of had an idea to do it, and I'd been prodding Matt," Pattinson said.

Forget to Botox and you're playing someone's grandmother. Milo Ventimiglia says he got a taste of ageism himself when he admitted that he wanted to play Batman, but producers thought he was too old. According to Ventimiglia, he asked his agents to seriously look into the possibility of playing the role, saying, "I've always wanted to be Batman." For the record, Michael Keaton was 38 when he played Batman in 1989. Ben Affleck was the oldest of all, playing Batman at 44.
