Mount Etna has again captivated the world with a spectacular show.

Sicily’s Mount Etna has put on a fiery show, sending a cloud of smoke and ash miles into the air, but officials said the activity posed no danger to the population.

Mount Etna has roared back to spectacular action after a few months of relative quiet.

A particularly powerful eruption of Mount Etna has created a volcanic storm that sent bolts of lightning dramatically across the sky over eastern Sicily.

But nearby residents said the eruption was unusual in that big chunks of volcanic stones carpeted the area, not just ash. “The entire territory of Pedara and all the streets are covered in volcanic ashes and lapillus,” or volcanic stones, he said.
