Crash overturns box truck, injures driver

Driver of car involved left scene, according to FHP

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A driver took off from the scene of crash Friday morning involving a box truck, authorities said.

The crash happened on Interstate 95 near Broward Boulevard and blocked lanes while crews cleaned up and investigated the crash.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Honda Civic crashed into the box truck, sending it into the median. The driver of the truck was taken to Broward Health Medical Center with minor injuries.

A Fort Lauderdale police officer found the driver of the Civic, identified as Ender Eulasio Gutierrez, 23, on Broward Boulevard and 18th Avenue. He was arrested and is expected to be charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving injuries. Authorities said he was also driving with an expired license.

According to troopers, a passenger who was inside the car also ran from the scene but was found.

Neither the Gutierrez nor his passenger were injured.

Authorities said the passenger was not arrested.
