2 cars catch fire after collision on Florida's Turnpike in southwest Miami-Dade

1 driver taken to hospital with minor injuries

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ One person was injured early Tuesday after two vehicles crashed against the containment walls on Florida's Turnpike in southwest Miami-Dade County, authorities said.

The crash was reported about 1:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway at Eureka Drive.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokeswoman Erika Benitez said both vehicles caught fire upon impact.

Both people inside the Hummer were able to escape from vehicle uninjured.

The driver of the black sedan was also able to get out of the car, but suffered minor injuries.

Ā The driver was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
