Driver dies after SUV shears tree, strikes building in Deerfield Beach

Authorities say driver lost control of SUV just after 9 a.m.

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – A driver has died after crashing his Nissan Murano into a tree Thursday in Deerfield Beach, shearing it in half, Broward Sheriff's Office Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles said.

The crash was reported just after 9 a.m. in the 400 block of East Hillsboro Boulevard.

Jachles said the driver lost control of his SUV and struck the tree and a building.

"I was sitting here working and all of a sudden I heard a huge bang, and there was a truck sitting outside my window," Derik Smith of Managed Insurance Services said. "It looked like he had clobbered a tree."

Bradley Marx, 36, of Delray Beach, was extricated from the SUV and taken to Broward Health North, where he later died.

Detectives believe he could have suffered a medical condition.

The crash is under investigation.
