Car slams into tree in Coconut Creek

2 passengers taken to hospital


COCONUT CREEK, Fla. – Two passengers were taken to Broward Health North after a crash Friday morning in Coconut Creek.

Margate-Coconut Creek Fire Rescue Department Capt. Matthew Whiteside said firefighters received a call about a rollover wreck at about 6 a.m.

When rescuers arrived, they found a car that had hit a tree along the eastbound lanes of Sample Road near Florida's Turnpike.

The impact crushed the driver's side of the car and left the rest of the car a mangled mess.

There was no immediate word on the conditions of the driver or the passengers.

Eastbound Sample Road was shut down for part of the morning as authorities investigated the crash.
