SUV crashes into front of home in Sunrise

No one injured in crash

SUNRISE, Fla. – An SUV crashed into a home Friday afternoon in Sunrise, authorities said.

The crash was reported about 3 p.m. in the area of Northwest 19th Street and 62nd Avenue.

Sky 10 was above the scene and saw downed palm trees outside the home and a large hole near the front door. Several vehicles in the driveway were also damaged.

Witnesses told Local 10 News that a woman driving the SUV was turning a curve when she lost control of her vehicle, jumped the median and crashed into a bedroom of the home.

"The car went up in the air, came down on those other two trees and landed right there into that house," Barney Harden, whose nephew rushed over to help the driver, said.

Authorities said there were people inside the home at the time, but no one was injured. Local 10 News reporter Andrew Perez was told that a woman was inside the bedroom when the SUV came crashing in.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The Red Cross was called in to assist the family that lives at the home.
