MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Drivers traveling through the Venetian Islands experienced significant traffic impacts Wednesday afternoon as the Secret Service coordinates intermittent and extended road closures in the area.
The road closures werereportedly due to a visit to the area by Vice President JD Vance.
According to Miami Beach police, a “hard closure” was in effect at Venetian Way and West San Marino Drive from 2 p.m. until approximately 8 p.m.
The closures were being implemented in coordination with the Miami Beach Police Department and the City of Miami Police Department.
Authorities said the closures primarily affected residents of the Venetian Islands, however residents and people who work there were able to enter with proof of residency or employment.
Drivers traveling between Miami and Miami Beach were urged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and seek alternate routes if possible.
