Departing flights from South Fla. airports no longer grounded

FAA cites computer problem for temporary delays

MIAMI – All departing flights from South Florida airports were temporarily grounded Wednesday morning because of a computer glitch.

Flights were grounded about 8 a.m. because of a computer problem at the Miami Air Route Traffic Control Center, Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen told Local 10 in a statement.

Miami's Air Route Traffic Control Center monitors flights south of Orlando and over the Caribbean Sea.

The first grounding was lifted within about an hour.

All operations were back to normal before noon.
