Swift Air flight arrives at Miami International Airport after false alarm

FAA investigates pilot's reason for making emergency landing

MIAMI – The pilot of a passenger plane traveling Friday from Kingston, Jamaica, to Cleveland diverted the flight to Miami.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, Swift Air flight 933, a Boeing 733, made an emergency landing at Miami International Airport about 3:30 p.m.

The pilot reported that there was smoke in the cockpit.

The plane landed safely, and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue trucks escorted the plane to the gate.

Rescue officials determined there was no fire on board.

No injuries were reported to the plane's 155 occupants.
