University of Miami to remain closed all week due to Irma

Classes scheduled to resume on Sept. 18

CORAL GABLES. Fla. – The University of Miami will remain closed through the week as school officials work on a recovery process to resume classes.

Both the school's Coral Gables and Marine campuses were closed due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Irma.

Officials are targeting Monday, Sept. 18 as the day classes may possibly resume.

All university activities have been canceled, including sporting events.

The hurricane has already forced the postponement of Saturday's Miami-Florida State football game in Tallahassee.  With Irma forecast to make its way towards northern Florida on Monday and Tuesday, Florida State University canceled its classes for the entire week.

The football game has been rescheduled for Oct. 7.
