Miami-Dade fire station sets up charging station to help families keep in touch

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – A Miami-Dade Fire Rescue station set up a power-charging station in front of their building to help people remain in contact with loved ones after Hurricane Irma.

Miami-Dade Station 16 in Homestead set up the station to allow those without power in the area to charge their phones and communicate with family and friends outside of the area.

The station, located at 255 Northwest 4th Avenue, plans to keep its makeshift charging station open as long as people need the power.
