Prisoner taken to Delray Medical Center in critical condition

A state inmate jumped out of a bus Monday afternoon on Florida's Turnpike in Palm Beach County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. – A state inmate jumped out of a bus that was taking Hurricane Irma evacuees back to prison Monday afternoon on Florida's Turnpike in Palm Beach County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The bus was traveling from Arcadia to Florida City when one of the prisoners jumped out of a bathroom emergency exit window about 12:15 p.m., the FHP report said.

Camilo Quintero, 23, was taken to Delray Medical Center in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at the hospital Tuesday morning.

The incident remains under investigation.
