Expect summer rainfall on Father's Day weekend

Drivers report flooding in areas of South Florida

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – South Florida families should make indoor plans for this Father's Day weekend. Summer rainfall could ruin golfing or fishing plans.

Showers and thunderstorms are possible Saturday afternoon and Sunday in areas of Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

On Friday afternoon, drivers reported flooding in Hialeah, Miami Gardens, Miramar, Miami Beach,  Sunny Isles Beach and Hollywood.

A flood advisory was in effect until about 8 p.m. for northern Miami-Dade and southern Broward counties. The heavy rain ended, but it took several hours for the standing water to drain from highways, streets and underpasses.
