Sept. 16: On and off thunderstorms from the Atlantic

A surge of moisture has been streaming in from the Bahamas and will give us the chance for scattered downpours at any point on Wednesday. There is no way to pinpoint any specific time frame or location, so they will be random. Some areas that get multiple back-to-back storms could see minor flooding.

A storm system will move in Friday and stall out through the weekend. This will give us an enhanced chance of scattered thunderstorms each day. It will also bring us cold air above us by the clouds. This will create a big temperature difference between the ground near 90 degrees and the much colder atmosphere aloft. That feature causes the atmosphere to be more unstable and could lead to a few storms becoming severe with damaging wind gusts, hail, frequent lightning, and very heavy rain.
